Joint Growth of Science & Technology Park 
with Regional Higher Education Institute

2016 UNESCO-WTA International Training Workshop will be held from 29th November to 1st December 2016 in Daejeon Convention Center(DCC), Daejeon, Republic of Korea. About 130 participants from 16 countries will participate to discuss about the assignments of main field to prepare complementary relationship between universities and science and technology parks.

Keynote Lecture will take place on the first day, followed by three sessions on 29th-30th November. Also, the case studies presentation will be presented on the second day. On the third day, 1st of December, tech tour and cultural tour will take place in both Daejeon and Seoul; participants can choose one of three tour courses

Session 1: How science and technology park transformed to collaborate with higher education institute(HEI)?

Universities and science and technology parks are currently operated under its own operational policies. However, transformation of science and technology park is necessary in order to build a complementary relationship between universities and science and technology parks. The direction and strategy of transformation, the global trends of such movement, and contents of science and technology park necessary for change will be discussed.

Session 2: Knowledge and action sharing between higher education institute and science & technology park

The most important issue in building a complementary relationship between universities and science and technology parks is the sharing of knowledge and behavior pattern. In this session, the challenges in the establishment of the principle for sharing of knowledge and behavior pattern will be discussed. In addition, the challenges and strategies in the perspectives of universities and science and technology parks will be discussed

Session 3: Supporting system from the collaboration of higher education institute with science and technology park

The significant synergistic effect can result from a complementary relationship between universities and science and technology parks. However, without a complementary relationship, the synergistic effect that may occur spontaneously will require a considerable amount of time. The system and governance that induce the cooperation naturally and easily have an important meaning in this field. In addition, the development of the relevant programs to strengthen the cooperation between universities and science and technology parks and the establishment of the support system are important development requirements.
